Entry Number Four

The Exchange

Now, when I left you last, I was drinking from my mortal lover, Ian Jevons I let him drink from me. We share our inter most darkest thoughts, hiding nothing. All the skeletons are out of the closet so to speak. This is the connection when a vampire gives the gift.

Before I go any deeper into this tale I must tell you of Ian and what he means to the undead population. There are two sides to this exsistance like any other, the good and the evil. Charon my maker, though she never ask me directly, I'm confident her rare and caring heart would not have aloud her not to have given me a choice. The dark gift was something I desired and she knew it. She was carful in choosing me, for not just any mere mortal can be first made of a first made, which I am.

When a vampire finds for the first time someone they may want to bring over they must ask themselves a few questions. The first that we make is always our strongest. Offspring become steadily weaker as you go along. Ian, will be my first child, my nocturnal child. Modern day vampires will make no more than three. This is an unwriten rule among us.

There was an era approximatly 300 years, between the tenth and fourteenth centuries when vampires believed strength was in numbers, so they made many. Vampires would make up to a dozen in his/her lifetime. Vampires now call this era "The Weak Years". Seventh, eighth and ninth mades were common then. Most are gone now. The fall from grace made them go mad. They perish because their will is not strong enough to endore the truth. The world changes for us as it does for you except vampires do not change with it. As mortal lovers and friends grow old around us, we remain eternaly unchanged. unweathered. Mortals become inquizitive so we must leave them behind and move on. This is what is the hardest and what eventully makes us go mad. I've seen it make third mades go mad before 200 years. I did meet a fifth made once that claimed to be 372 years old. There are always exceptions, it depends on how strong the maker is.

Ian will be the first of a first of a first. He will be very strong. I have passed up many mortals before him. He is the perfect choice, its time for him to be mine.

                                                                        May you always live,
                                                                        and I never die.
                                                                        Hesper
