Meteors, familiar to us all as objects that occasionally flash across the dark sky. The faint ones known as shooting stars, and the bright ones commonly called fireballs are caused by small swiftly moving celestial bodies. These bodies mostly are no larger than fine grains of sand.
The average partical is destroyed as it travels through air. If this were not so, the Earth would be unable to maintain life. Thhere are millions of them traveling at very high velocities.
It was not until the first experiments in dynamite explosions in 1867 that the urban legend of the indoor meteor surfaced. The tales of occurrences of this phenomenon have grown as fast as UFO's and alliens. As humankind has advanced in our bomb making techniques more unisolated cases of indoor meteorites have been documented.
