Cowtownmusic.com Link Policy |
and why I do what I do |
Cowtownmusic.com was started in December 1998 and went Online May 1999.
I started this website because I like to go see local bands.
If you want your band listed you need to link to cowtownmusic.com
If you do not link to cowtownmusic.com you won't be included on the musicians page
and I won't link to your show. I'll still post your show but fair is fair,
no link to me, no link to you. Links help with seach engines,
google local music in central ohio and you will see the results of links.
Cowtownmusic.com has no affilation with anything else in central Ohio.
This is a one family operation, my wife helps, sometimes my kids help.
People who tell you they work for me, or are part of cowtownmusic.com or they can get you listed are liars.
Who is listed
I only list musical groups in Central Ohio, Columbus Area. By musical groups I mean musicians, you must play an instrument.
I do not consider Karoke and DJ's as musical groups. They are competition and I won't tolerate links to them in any way.
I do occasionally search music sites on cowtownmusic.com and if your linking to DJ's or Karoke's
I'll remove your link on my site.
What's not on here? (yeah rules)
I'm fairly laid back but I despise egos, if your ego explodes I'll most likely remove you.
I consider cowtownmusic.com to be a musicians community of nice friendly people enjoying music.
I won't list groups that have what I term vulgar names or links to porn sites.
I could really care less what your name is but some people hold me accountable
I don't need the grief of getting sued by some rightwing neocon who can't read his bible.
I won't list websites with popups, websites that take forever to load or refuse to let you exit.
Read the above twice so you understand the why below.
You need to have a top level domain name (whaterver.ect)
No myspace, angelfire, yahoo like crap websites, be profesional. We don't want the World Wide Web
to end up like TV and Radio which is what the large national community websites are attempting to do.
Get your own website, try Acenet for a website,
quit advertising for people who are only interested in making a buck off your visitors.
As for Reviews, I don't read them or write them so don't ask. You probaly wouldn't like my opinion anyways.
The Future
I have no idea what the future holds.
We really have a problem with our city leaders.
They seem intent on destroying the nightlife. They pass laws after laws against clubs.
The next plan is a Zero Noise Ordinance. They don't want any sound going through a wall.
Who is behind this? I'll bet it is the same right wing idiots who don't like alchohol or music.
They were disappointed the smoking ban didn't kill the clubs, now they want to fine them for
noise. Their random DUI checks don't work because we know to get a designated driver.
These people will never be happy and the squeaky wheel gets the grease so we have to stand
up to them. Write your represenatives, send emails, call them.
Hold them accountable, if you can't vote against them due to some "belief" the other party is
bad then don't vote for them.
On a national level. Keeping the net nuetral is going to be a huge challenge.
For those who don't understand, the goverment's job is to build and maintain an infrastructure
that allows all of us the ability to work or start a business to achieve prosperity.
Electric, Phone, Cable, Roads, ect, the goverment sets that up.
Time Warner, Ma Bell whoever does the electric, our goverment pays them to install the lines.
The companies then have the subscribers pay for the upkeep of the services and the company gets
to make a profit.
So when Time Warner claims, "we should be able to charge whatever we want"
Remember, that was given to them, in a closed bid so that you and I can have
electric, gas, phone, drinkable water, cable TV and internet.
They were paid by us to install it and they get paid by us to maintain it.
And no where does it say they should decide how we use it.
A perfect example is the drivel they call news on TV.
Keep playing music.
